On 5 May 2025, Belarusian authorities added the Instagram page Let Nasta Go (@let_nasta_go) to the Republican List of Extremist Content. The page is dedicated to sharing information regarding Belarusian woman human rights defender Nasta Loika, who is serving her sentence in the Homel Penal Colony #4 in Belarus. The page is managed by colleagues and friends of Nasta Loika.

On 24 April 2025, the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior reported, and the Prosecutor’s General Office of Ukraine confirmed that one of the bodies repatriated to Ukraine from Russia in February 2025 was the body of woman human rights defender Victoria Roshchyna. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, a DNA test confirmed, with a probability of over 99%, the identity of the deceased as that of Victoria Roshchyna, and a forensic medical examination revealed numerous signs of torture and ill-treatment on her body.

On 5 September 2024, woman human rights defender Hortensia Telésforo Jiménez was verbally attacked during a protest alongside members of the originary community of San Gregorio Atlapulco, located in the Xochimilco district of Mexico City (CDMX). The protest was organized in her support as a human rights defender, who had been summoned for a hearing at the Prosecutor’s office regarding a potential case of criminalization against her.

On 1 September 2024, Algerian human rights defenders Kamira Nait Sid and Slimane Bouhafs were released from prison. The human rights defenders spent a three-year prison sentence on charges of “belonging to a terrorist organisation”; “receiving funds from abroad for the purpose of political propaganda”, “hate speech and discrimination”, “use of technology to spread false information”, and “conspiracy”, among others.

On 21 November 2023, the Khatai District Court in Baku placed human rights defender and journalist Ulvi Hasanli, and woman human rights defender and journalist Sevinc Vaqifqizi, in pre-trial detention for 4 months. The human rights defenders are being investigated for “conspiring to bring money into the country unlawfully,” a criminal offence articulated in Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. If charged, they face up to eight years in prison.

On 11 October 2023, woman human rights defender and journalist Samira Sabou was provisionally released from prison. She was secretly held by the judicial police for 8 days, from 30 September to 7 October, at which point her whereabouts were finally disclosed. On 30 September 2023, woman human rights defender Samira Sabou was abducted from her mother’s house at around 5h30 PM by three unidentified man. The disappearance was reported to the judicial police the following day.
