Human rights defender Ms Soni Sori has been the target of an ongoing slander campaign led by the Inspector General of the Police of Bastar region, Mr Kalluri, following a press conference in which she drew attention to an alleged arbitrary killing by the police. She further received direct threats from the Inspector General.

On 27 February 2016, the annual GALAS awards took place at a special event in Dublin's Mansion House at which the Irish gay community honoured lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people and organisations for their contribution to Irish society.
Tunisia: Court annuls the suspension of LGBTI organisation Shams

On 23 February 2016, the LGBTI organisation Shams won its legal challenge against the Tunisian authorities. On 28 December 2015, the Tunisian Court of First Instance had ordered the suspension of Shams activities for 30 days, accusing the organisation of having violated the NGO law. Following the organisation's appeal against this order, the Court has decided that Shams can now resume its normal activities.
Lucila Bettina Cruz Velázquez has precautionary protection measures awarded by the Office for the Defense of Human Rights from the Oaxaca state-government since 14 November 2011 for her having been assaulted by state police during her work of informing indigenous communities regarding their rights to property of land.
